The agreement affects NESA Kabel TV's approx. 17,000 cable TV customers living in the north of Zealand. The 17,000 customers will be added to the 821,000 currently being provided with cable TV services by TDC Cable TV.
The agreement benefits the cable TV customers as well as NESA and TDC Cable TV.
"I'm pleased that we have entered into this agreement seeing that the customers will have new offers and NESA Cable TV will have better development opportunities, " says Poul Lind, CEO of NESA, and continues: "The sale of NESA Cable TV is part of NESA's strategic focus. We are committed to expanding our core business. That's why our products must be offered to a large number of our customers and the products must be connected to our electricity-related activities. The cable TV service will only be offered to some 17,000 out of our approx. 534,000 customers. TDC Cable TV A/S has cable TV as its main activity. NESA cannot invest the necessary resources in NESA Cable TV's further development," says Poul Lind.
Today, cable TV business does not only concern traditional analog TV, but also digital TV, IP telephony and Internet via the TV connection. This is TDC Cable TV's field of expertise and now NESA Cable TV's customers will benefit from this.
"For many years, TDC Cable TV has been an indirect supplier of NESA Cable TV's customers. We are pleased that with the takeover of NESA Cable TV we will have a direct customer relationship and that we can further develop this relationship. The network which we are taking over is of a high technical standard and we will now start working on offering our customers even better programs, digital services and Internet access via the cable TV network," says Niels Breining, President of TDC Cable TV.
The transaction is implemented as per January 1, 2002. TDC will rent some of the premises at Undalsvej in Frederiksværk and one NESA Cable TV employee will be hired to work at TDC Cable TV A/S. The rest of the current employees have been given new tasks at NESA.
No immediate changes will take place in the present deliveries or agreements between the customers and NESA Cable TV. A service level agreement between seller and buyer, valid in the first quarter of 2002, will ensure a seamless transition without problems for the customers. This means that customers should use their usual points of contact until further notice.
