Every year, TDC buys a large quantity of goods and services which are used in our everyday business. It is everything from cell phones, which can be purchased in our shops, to light bulbs, which light up our buildings.
Part of the goods we purchase are produced in countries far from Denmark and in countries which in some cases fail to meet the social and environmental standards that we in Denmark take for granted. In our work with both current and future suppliers TDC require that suppliers comply with TDC's views on social responsibility.
TDC has therefore developed mandatory guidelines - a "Code of Supplier Conduct" - which our suppliers must meet. The guidelines have been prepared in accordance with the UN Global Compact's principles. The requirements are included in contracts with suppliers.
The supplier will be presented with the specific requirements in TDC's Code of Supplier Conduct, before signing a contract and must agree to respect the individual requirements. TDC also undertakes a screening of suppliers in specific risk areas such as electrical scrap on the basis of an international database E-TASC, which contains information on a wide range of suppliers.
On suspicion of violation of TDC's Supplier Code of Conduct, TDC initiates a dialogue with the supplier to correct any situation. In TDC, we give priority to a constructive dialogue with suppliers to ensure that conditions are improved rather than a termination of the cooperation. A termination may be necessary if the supplier fails to modify in any of the conditions in violation of TDC's Code of Supplier Conduct.
